چکیده

Using Euclidean constraints to model large 3D environment is made possible. This has been a challenging issue for many years. Using such knowledge, not only enlarges the number of feasible cases but it also provides perfect results, unreachable formerly. We deal with a limited set of constraints composed of incidence relations, parallelism, and orthogonality. Those knowledges are given manually, are processed throught a geometric reasonning system, and are used during what we call a constraint bundle adjustment. Results are very encouraging even if the computational time may be prohibitive.

An improved algorithm for two-image camera self-calibration and Euclidean structure recovery using absolute quadric

We present an improved algorithm for two-image camera self-calibration and Euclidean structure recovery, where the e2ective focal lengths of both cameras are assumed to be the only unknown intrinsic parameters. By using the absolute quadric, it is shown that the e2ective focal lengths can be computed linearly from two perspective images without imposing scene or motion constraints. Moreover, a ...

A Scheme for Combining Auto-calibration and Scene Constraints

A scheme for combining auto-calibration and scene constraints in the “structure-from-motion” problem is proposed. This scheme focuses on the recovery of the absolute quadric using auto-calibration while imposing orthogonal scene plane constraints. First, an initial estimate of the absolute quadric is obtained using a linear method. A nonlinear constrained optimization step is then applied to re...

Self-Calibration for Virtual Environments

Virtual immersive environments or telepresence setups often consist of multiple cameras which have to be calibrated. We present a convenient method for doing this. The minimum is three cameras, but there is no upper limit. The method is fully automatic and a freely moving bright spot is the only calibration object. A set of virtual 3D points is made by waving the bright spot through the working...

Quick Guide to Multi-Camera Self-Calibration

We present a convenient calibration method for multiple cameras. Three cameras are the minimum but there is no upper limit. The method is fully automatic and a laser pointer is the only hardware used. A set of virtual 3D points is made by waving the laser pointer through the working volume. Its projections are found with sub-pixel precision and verified by a robust RANSAC analysis. The cameras ...
